How to: Girly and Feminine Looks

So this is a post on how to pull off a girly and feminine look if you're just in the mood to dress up! Just some suggestions to get you going.

Dress up... literally

One way of being all girly is picking out a dress. You wanna go with pastel colors but I personally prefer nudes and peach dresses. They are very flattering on any kind of skin color and body build. Like this dress from Romwe:

(here)

Nothing says a girly girl than pink! If you have a larger tummy (like me) I think an empire cut dress would be more comfy. You wanna go with something flowy not super duper fit. If you're on the chubby side, it would still look awesome.

Try these other outfits if you're not comfy with dresses:

Makeup...

Blush is a key component in looking all feminine. It's important to pick a pink peachy blush with a more natural look than corals and reds. I love The Body Shop's Lip and Cheek Tint. It's a bit pricey (P795) but it looks natural and feels natural.

Go for tints. If you like powder blushes more, I recomment Clinique's blushes! I have a sample size of their blush which I don't have with me right now, but it kinda looks scary because it has shimmer, but once you put it on your face the shimmer disappears.

Softness is key, so I wouldn't apply a dark eyeliner over my eyes, maybe a hint of brown eyeshadow and mascara would be awesome.

You wanna focus on the cheeks and lips. I would wear a pinky almost your-lips-but-better kinda lipstick.

So that's it for this "fashion" tutorial. Hope you learned a lot. :) I am actually inspired to write this because I am really in the mood to dress up as girly as possible these past few days.

A little commercial, Romwe is having another sale on skirts this time. Don't forget to drop by their website and just look at their awesome designs.

Romwe Shirt & Skirt Sale, Up to 60%off! Only 3 days, 06/21/2013-06/23/2013.

So there, good luck and au revoir.

p.s. Next post will be my new beauty regime :)

Androgynous fan must-have

This is one word that gets thrown a lot at me. Simply because I do look like a boy sometimes, and other times a girl. And I don't mind because I love androgynous looks on women. I think there is something about it that's really classy and sexy at the same time. That's really why I cut my hair so short recently. I love playing around and bending the gender line. I'm a gender-bender! (Futurama reference sorry I watch it too much).

I don't think it's offensive that a nice cashier girl in KFC says "Sir" to me. It's funny! Sometimes people don't really know that I'm a girl especially when I dress very manly. (And I do that a lot!)

So for me, if you're gonna pull off an androgynous look, here are the basic must-haves:

A nice well tailored blazer

Blazers are an awesome way to push your look to the androgynous side. Specially the ones with the shoulder pads. I love blazers! They are very versatile. When you think a dress or an ensemble is close to slutty or trashy, add a blazer. It works wonders! Lakas magpalalake! It really transforms your look. I think suits are very manly and strong that's why blazers just puts the edges on your body.

High waisted trousers

This type of pants/trousers are perfect for gender-bender-ing! I also love that it creates an illusion of a smaller waistline. (Perfect for people like me!) It also elongates your legs and makes it look like it goes on forever! Paired with the right shoes and accessories, this could take you to places!

Brogues

Love brogues. They are everywhere. I think the better option for buying brogue shoes are buying the "manlier" designs. I really like the manly version better than the slimmed down smaller versions. Good ol' fashion brogues are pretty! I remember my father owned plenty of these "dressy" shoes. I would urge him to wear it out because I thought they were cute and pretty. Sometimes I wish my feet were longer and bigger so I can borrow them all from my father!

So those are my must-haves if you do like the androgynous look. But if you really just wanna "dip" and just try androgyny one baby step at a time, I suggest pairing these with girly girl pieces in your closet. For just a hint of androgyny why not use the pants then pair it with a floral corset? Or wear the brogues with a flirty skirt/dress?

p.s. missed blogging really long and boring everyone to death with my """fashion""" advice. (those were sarcastic quotation marks) hahaha. And this is from a self appointed fashionista. Toodles! :)

How to: Photoshoots

Hey, just a disclaimer. I AM NOT AN EXPERT. I know that and these are just tips and tricks I normally apply when I want a photo shoot (whether I'm the one behind the camera or in front). I got these from my experiences as a model and rarely, the photographer.

  1. Have a theme, this is very important. Make a theme or some sort of emotion you want to convey in the photos. Whether it is seduction or innocence. Have a concrete theme for your shoot.
  2. Use natural lighting. It is awesome. And I guess it is cheaper that buying lighting equipment. It makes the model's skin so much smoother.
  3. Be familiar with your equipment. You don't want to waste time on the day of the shoot fumbling with your camera.
  4. Learn your model's assets. What is her best physical qualities? Is it her eyes? Then focus on them. In my opinion, a good photographer makes anyone look their best.
  5. Be friends with your model/photographer. It is 1000x easier to shoot. And also, the photos does not look forced. Crack a few jokes and don't be shy.
  6. Be inspired. There are tons of photos on the internet. Be inspired by other people's works.
I had a theme in mind for this shoot, it was sort of indie summer!

This was for my online shop PORSELAS. My theme was a sorta happy go lucky girl

I shot this picture with the emphasis on the fabric.

I was good friends with the photographer :)
So there are my tips. Hope I've been helpful! :) And I really am interested in photography. I do not have an awesome camera yet (a lot of times I use just a point and shoot camera). Been a few times I've been able to borrow a DSLR. I've been dreaming of owning one, but I guess I need a LOT of money for that. Shall save for my first DSLR.
