Make up Basics

Been dabbing and experimenting with make-up recently. These are what I think should be the basics in a make-up kit.

1. Mascara

My mascara is Benefit's They're Real mascara

Find a good reliable, tried and tested mascara. I like this one because it has a really good formula and it's not very difficult to remove (it's not waterproof). You'll never know how much mascara can help into opening up your eyes. Speaking of opening up them peekers...

2. Eyelash curler

This is the E.L.F. eyelash curler.

2. Eye pencils

Mainly, one white, brown (for eyebrows) and black.

E.L.F. Eye widerer in Pearl White

This seriously helps in making my eyes look very awake and bright. I love this! And it's dirt cheap.

Nichido mineral eye pencil in Chestnut

This is my eyebrow pencil. I love this because it's 2 shades lighter than my hair. That's the rule, if you're brunette 2 shades lighter and if you're blond 2 shades darker. Trimmed and groomed eyebrows can make a huge difference! They frame the face and just makes it more symmetric.

Nichido Mineral Kohl Pencil in Onyx

I overuse this pencil! I love it to bits. Very easy to use and remove.

These are my make-up basics, I think you should spend on the mascara and curler but save on the pencils. There are a lot of awesome cheap eye pencils out there.

I know I did not put any products for the face and lips because I seldom use stuff for that. I don't really like lipsticks because I tend to spread them everywhere on my face and I eat a lot during the day. I have yet to find a good lip stain (which I think would suit me).

Ambassador of Fun

Team Manila shirt

Thrifted boots, shorts and denim shirt

Just found these old stockings at home!

My mom's LV bag

This shirt kinda describes my personality, I love joking around and just spreading fun! (or so I think). I am really abusing this awesome denim shirt thing. I use it as a top, or jacket! Just found it at a random thrift store in Manila.

Have an awesome halloween btw! :)

DIY creamy nude lip thing

Recently bought a concealer that does not match my skintone... bought it online... If you have similar problems do not fret! You can easily make a creamy nude lippy thing!

What you need:

Liquid concealer (Used ELF in Light Beige which I bought in ebay)

Lip gloss (Smashbox in Illume), it has sparkly bits in it! Actually, if you don't want sparkle then just use normal lip gloss.

Directions:

Just put it together and BOOM! (I like to blend it at the back of my hand)

Results:

It's pretty creamy (because of my choice of lip gloss). I love it! :)

Other notes:

I actually tried the concealer on my lips without the gloss and it didn't work well! My lips were dry and the lines were showing and creasing.

Okay that is all! Goodluck with your DIY :)

Current musings

Oh well, I currently can't borrow a camera :( sad, I know. Because I want to share all my birthday stuff/hauls and other things. :( So maybe next time.

Anyway, I just wanted to blog to share all my current wants and musings.

Can I haz this pair plzzzzz? haha! But I think it's a bit too expensive. 6k? 7k? oh sigh.

I've been kinda in to make up recently. Oh joy if I can have this. Too bad it's very expensive and rare here in the Philippines. Maybe I'll just settle on local make up brands here.

I've heard good things about this heavy moisturizing cream. I think I can buy this want because it's readily available at Zalora. (buy it here) I think I need this because I have very dry skin. It's very annoying. I am using regular lotion and I think it's not really working.

I actually bought stuff over at Zalora but I can't take pics yet. Need to borrow a cam first. And one tip, use your gcash to buy stuff there. Really convenient because it's super easy and simple. Seriously!

Excited to post all the hauls! And excited to post more reviews from make-up things I have ordered online! :)

Last pic of Lotte, my boyfriend's housemate's cat. SHE IS SOOOOO ADORABLE OMFGFAGAIJGAPA!!!! (AND YES SHE IS ONE OF MY MUSINGS)

All about the monolid eyes

Been watching too many make-up tutorials! So far I've learned a lot of stuff! (By watching and also applying makeup to myself)

I have monolids (no eyelid fold). Example of monolids are as follows: (all model images are from Monolidlove)

Yes I got the model ones hihi. Well, I love being a monolid. I am not ashamed, or do I think it's an ugly trait. But sometimes it's very difficult to put make up on. (Where do I put eyeshadow? Where do I shade? Where do I put the contour on my eyes?) Seems tutorials are very specific to people with double eyelids. Just a handful of tutorials cater directly to people with monolids.

So now I'll try to break down how to put on eye make up on monolids. :)

Have y'all noticed the make up of the models above?

EYEBROWS

They all have strong structured eyebrows! Although I suggest you go to the brow salon, I found a vid on how to pluck and shape eyebrows. I personally tried it and my eyebrows seem pretty okay and structured:

This video is from Michelle Phan. :) Credits to her! I love this tutorial because it's very easy to follow and pretty basic. This works with my eyebrows. :) She has tons of brow techniques go check out her channel.

This might help tame your brows:

Can buy this here at Zalora

EYESHADOW

I think with monolids, you have got to apply A LOT of eyeshadow! Because our eyelids tend to "eat" eyeshadow and if it's too thin, it will not be noticeable. I personally prefer nudes and neutrals just because I don't wanna look like a clown and I am just a student. Imagine if I go to class wearing a very loud and thick eyeshadow!

Here are some palettes I would suggest:

Can buy this here in Zalora

And browns totally look good just because it gives eyes depth. In Filipino, malalim ang mata. And also neutral colors do not overpower the whole face. I think most monolids are Chinese/Korean/Japanese. So their faces tend to be soft and delicate. If you jumble too much it clashes with the whole face.

Also these palettes can double for your brows. That's what I love about browns and neutrals, you can use them in so many ways!

See, brown is awesome!

EYELINER

I love eyeliners! I love that their so versatile and I can make different eye shapes just by using them. I love black dramatic lines. I love the NYX jumbo eyeliner. (Review here) I've been using it almost everyday! And I heard it was a pain sharpening, I, however, disagree! I just used a regular eyeliner sharpener with a jumbo slot.

I love dramatic lines but I think I'm not yet an expert so I don't want to dabble with liquid eyeliners. I use eyeliner pencils (soft ones like kohl).

Me... okay, I made this pic smaller because I'm shy. teehee and because I'm beside models' pics.

Maybe when I'm more apt and ready I would try liquid eyeliners.

Love her make up. But I think I wouldn't dare try the super duper dark eyebrows

There's nothing wrong with being a monolid. :) I just love to experiment and reinvent myself sometimes. It's fun to put on make-up and just let loose! I still do love myself and think I am pretty even if I'm without make-up. :)

Putting on make up is like dressing up, sometimes I can feel a bit gothic/gloomy so I pump up the dark black eyeliner and sometimes I feel super girly I'll put blush + lip gloss on.

Enjoy and have fun experimenting with make up!

Acne solutions

Hey, so this blog post is pretty delayed because I always have something coming up! Never had the time to do this but now I am free so go!

I have acne. All over my face. It got worse and worse. So I did something about it. I tried so many products. So once I tried Beauche. It did clear out my acne and made my face smoother. But I think the results were very temporary, and my face became whiter than my whole body. (I think Beauche really does help in whitening which is unnecessary for my case). It was a great product but I didn't want the whitening effect. And it was also expensive. (Around 800php or approx. $20).

I found another product that worked WONDERS! I have been testing it for about 1 month and a half now and I gotta say, it's really effective! Actually, I have been putting it on my face less and less!

DR. WONG'S BIODERM OINTMENT

I'm kinda sad to see that it only contains half nowwww. It's so awesome! I love using this because it dries out my acne completely in like 2-3 days!

HOW I APPLY: (I have followed the Regimen by ance.org)
I do this every night. (I suggest you test the ointment on a small part of your face first, then if no allergic reactions show up you're ready to go)
  1. Wet your face and wash. Lather it first on your hands and simply smooth it on your face. No need to scrub really hard. They say acne comes from irritation because we stress it too much. Minimize the friction between your fingers and face. Minimize the time you wash your face in 30 seconds. For more details on how click here.
  2. Dry it off with a clean towel. Also minimize the friction between the towel and your face.
  3. When face is completely dry, apply the ointment on your problem areas. By meaning of apply, I just dab it on my face. It may smell a little funky but I assure you it is really effective. I don't really rub it in very much, I just dab dab dab until my skin absorbs the product.
  4. I sleep this way!
  5. Then in the morning, I wash it off like in number 1. Then I put a moisturizer. (Very important) You're skin will experience some drying and peeling a bit, but it's not that scary.
Also, what I love about this specific ointment is that there is no burning sensation. Actually, there is a cooling sensation when you apply it on your skin. (I think it has menthol). I never felt pain ever when I use this product. (Unlike Beauche which stings!) And what so great is that, it's just 50+php! (Approx. $2). I strongly suggest you try it out first before applying it on your face, swatching in on your arm or something then leaving it overnight. If it's fine then use it.

What moisturizer I'm using now:

MYRA DAILY SUN PROTECT

I've been using this for over a month now. (I feel sad because I'm about to finish my tube). It is soooooooooo awesome! I love it! It has sunscreen too! I never thought it would have sunscreen because it is soooooooooo light! The texture is watery. My skin absorbs it so fast and quick! I apply this all over my face and neck everyday. So far no problems have occured.

PROS:
  • I love the scent. It's really subtle!
  • I have sensitive skin and I never felt any itch or any irritations.
  • I love that it's really cheap. (80php) And one tube lasts for about a month and several days.
  • My skin absorbs this product so well. I've tried different moisturizers that were thick and icky. I would sweat white throughout the day because of those thick moisturizers. This does not do that!

CONS:
  • THERE IS NO BIGGER TUBE!
Will repurchase all these products once I finish them. I get the ointment at Rustans. (Haven't seen the ointment elsewhere) And the moisturizer is readily available everywhere I think.

Well, good luck with your acne!

p.s. this isn't a paid blog post and these opinions are 100% my own.
