Acne solutions

Hey, so this blog post is pretty delayed because I always have something coming up! Never had the time to do this but now I am free so go!

I have acne. All over my face. It got worse and worse. So I did something about it. I tried so many products. So once I tried Beauche. It did clear out my acne and made my face smoother. But I think the results were very temporary, and my face became whiter than my whole body. (I think Beauche really does help in whitening which is unnecessary for my case). It was a great product but I didn't want the whitening effect. And it was also expensive. (Around 800php or approx. $20).

I found another product that worked WONDERS! I have been testing it for about 1 month and a half now and I gotta say, it's really effective! Actually, I have been putting it on my face less and less!

DR. WONG'S BIODERM OINTMENT

I'm kinda sad to see that it only contains half nowwww. It's so awesome! I love using this because it dries out my acne completely in like 2-3 days!

HOW I APPLY: (I have followed the Regimen by ance.org)
I do this every night. (I suggest you test the ointment on a small part of your face first, then if no allergic reactions show up you're ready to go)
  1. Wet your face and wash. Lather it first on your hands and simply smooth it on your face. No need to scrub really hard. They say acne comes from irritation because we stress it too much. Minimize the friction between your fingers and face. Minimize the time you wash your face in 30 seconds. For more details on how click here.
  2. Dry it off with a clean towel. Also minimize the friction between the towel and your face.
  3. When face is completely dry, apply the ointment on your problem areas. By meaning of apply, I just dab it on my face. It may smell a little funky but I assure you it is really effective. I don't really rub it in very much, I just dab dab dab until my skin absorbs the product.
  4. I sleep this way!
  5. Then in the morning, I wash it off like in number 1. Then I put a moisturizer. (Very important) You're skin will experience some drying and peeling a bit, but it's not that scary.
Also, what I love about this specific ointment is that there is no burning sensation. Actually, there is a cooling sensation when you apply it on your skin. (I think it has menthol). I never felt pain ever when I use this product. (Unlike Beauche which stings!) And what so great is that, it's just 50+php! (Approx. $2). I strongly suggest you try it out first before applying it on your face, swatching in on your arm or something then leaving it overnight. If it's fine then use it.

What moisturizer I'm using now:

MYRA DAILY SUN PROTECT

I've been using this for over a month now. (I feel sad because I'm about to finish my tube). It is soooooooooo awesome! I love it! It has sunscreen too! I never thought it would have sunscreen because it is soooooooooo light! The texture is watery. My skin absorbs it so fast and quick! I apply this all over my face and neck everyday. So far no problems have occured.

PROS:
  • I love the scent. It's really subtle!
  • I have sensitive skin and I never felt any itch or any irritations.
  • I love that it's really cheap. (80php) And one tube lasts for about a month and several days.
  • My skin absorbs this product so well. I've tried different moisturizers that were thick and icky. I would sweat white throughout the day because of those thick moisturizers. This does not do that!

CONS:
  • THERE IS NO BIGGER TUBE!
Will repurchase all these products once I finish them. I get the ointment at Rustans. (Haven't seen the ointment elsewhere) And the moisturizer is readily available everywhere I think.

Well, good luck with your acne!

p.s. this isn't a paid blog post and these opinions are 100% my own.

Zigiddy zag

Thrifted boots

Hand-me-down dress for my mom

Longchamp bag from my mom also

Accessories from Porselas

Watch from Timex

I don't have that much dresses so when my mom offered this dress to me I quickly grabbed it! And these boots were a good bargain! Got them for only P170! (approx. $4) And they are so comfy too!

I love this dress because the print just shouts NOTICE ME HEY! I do admit I'm really an attention whore so this just is totally me! :)

And ooooooh! I received my orders from Zalora! :) Awesome!

Ambassador of fun shirt from Zalora (use the code IrinaTanw for 5% discount with min. 500 peso purchases), Green swirly dress also from my mom :)

I actually ordered 2 tops and a lip shimmer but I gave the other top as a birthday gift to my sis and the lip shimmer I gave to my mom. I love this shirt! And its font is matchy matchy with my newly green thrifted shoes that I got for approx. $6!

Awesome shoes right? super happy with them! They look brand new! :) I love thrift shops here at my province in Quezon! :) Shall blog tomorrow about my new skin care discoveries :) Teehee!

NYX Jumbo eye pencil

Recently bought NYX Jumbo Eye pencil in Black bean here for only P189! (yes the shipping fee is inclusive) Been searching for the longest time for the cheapest price (I am very thrifty) and finally found it. Love the multiply website. (And no, this particular online shop didn't pay me to say this).

Anyway, so on to my review. (Sorry for the camera phone low quality pics)

Neat packaging.

This is just one swipe

PROS
  • Love the texture of this eye pencil, it's super creamy and blendable too.
  • I like the pigmentation. Very black and thick. I think normal eye pencils are too thin (because I'm a monolid, my eyelids sorta envelopes the thin line I make with normal pencils)
  • Very easy to use, super smooth. Glides on easily.
CONS
  • Wouldn't recommend this to someone who has oily eyelids (it transfers easily)
  • Lasted the whole day but was smudgy at times.
  • It needs a primer for it to last in super crazy weather.

I use this to just line my eyelids (heavily if I may add) and voila. Instant wake-up look for me. I have pretty small eyes so I love that this is jumbo. Will repurchase if I finish the whole stick! :)

Moisturizer (updated)

So, I've been searching for the best moisturizer out there. I've been testing out Olay Natural White day cream and so far it's been good to my skin. (Been using it for 2 days)

I have very sensitive skin (when I say very, I mean verrrrrrry) so it's so hard to find something that'll soothe and tame my very wild skin. With the olay day cream, my face looks a bit radiant (my boyfriend asked me what I've done to my face because it looked great). I'm not really crazy about the smell. I think it's too overpowering and too fragrant for a face lotion. But anyway, my face instantly reacts to products with harsh ingredients (once tried ponds and it made my face itchy the first time I applied). So far so good with the olay cream.

Texture. This cream is very very very light and won't leave your face oily and smudgy. I don't rub it on my face, I just tap tap tap until my face absorbs it by itself. It delivers its description that it is a non-greasy formula.

Price. It is okay. Not that cheap not that expensive. I think the price is just right.

Repurchase. I think I'll finish my sachet first before I buy the bottle and if my skin doesn't react badly I'll totally buy it again.

Another advantage of this cream is, that it has UV protection. (score!)

I think I'll test it out for a week and post my results!

UPDATE:

Stopped using this product, too thick and I think it blocked my pores. Switched to a new moisturizer which I will blog about soon. Just testing it out longer for more accurate review :)

Roberta's

So, we had dinner at this awesome restaurant in Maginhawa. Roberta's Asian something. I forgot the whole name! The food was goooooooood! :)

Oh how I wanted to steal their table cloths and turn them into dresses!

Mirror shot hihi cause I'm vain like that.

Love their pandan flavored water. It's for freeeee

What we ordered: Combination of meats satay (supposedly a Singaporean dish?), and my favorite Tortang Talong (Eggplant omelette? That's the closest translation)

The meat satay was very good. It was even better with the sauce I encircled. The sauce was totally the BOMB. It had chilies, something sweet I don't know, nuts, curry powder, coconut milk. Gaaaah I die. It was really good.

I actually forgot to take pics, but then bf reminded me. HAHA I was so hungry that night!

Obligatory vain-super-close-up-shot because I was wearing eyeliner that day.

So here's the deal on Roberta's. A little expensive (because I am a struggling student), the meal was worth about P300+. It was good for 2 people. But everything was delicious and the service was good too. I loved the interiors of the place. Very tribal and exotic. I love the pandan water, as it was very refreshing and very unexpected. (Of course I expected regular water). So if you are a student like me, it's best to just make this place a go-to when you're celebrating about something or after finishing a long exam. Maybe 4.8 out of 5 stars for me!

Happy Valentine's Day

Thank you to my boyfriend for the flowers and the ring! :) So beautiful! Love vday! :)

But I had a not so awesome experience where we ate dinner. Super rude servers! Several days ago we asked if we can reserve for a table because this resto is kinda a famous place for romantic dinners but they said they will not have reservations on valentine's day. They said it will be a "first come first serve basis". But when we got there, we were put to the smallest table with with the worst positioning ever then all the good tables were "Reserved". Gaaah. I was furious. meron naman palang reservation eh! I will never eat there again. Xocolat in katipunan. I hate youuuu! The service was also bad. Grrrrr.

But anyway, after that we went to Cbtl to enjoy hot tea and I think that was the highlight of my night.

Sunday stuff I love

So here are the things I've been raving about.

My mom's vintage Christian Dior sunnies. Really cute and awesome. Love my mom!

Hair wax. I use this everyday because my hair is ridiculously flat and straight.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS SOAP! Seriously, it'll make your acne go away. It's part of the beauche set. I still use it and it's awesome!

Alcohol spray thingy. I don't leave home without it. I am a very messy person so this is very handy.

My dependable deo. It smells like a lady! (which sometimes I wanna be)

Smells like you just went out the shower! It is also very handy. I love small cute stuff!

Super excited because we are going to be thrift store hopping today. Yey! :) that is all. :)

Poker night at Snappy John's

Yummy cakes (they look super yummy) but I didn't buy one because I think I'm getting super fat!

Awesome they're beside Moonleaf and you can order from them too. They have this little window which connects the two stores together. :)

This is my "poker" face. Hahahaha.

I love this little cafe! Snappy John's. They have poker sets so you can play poker all you want! Actually, they serve sandwiches which are super yummy. I didn't get a picture because we ate it up super fast! I didn't like the milk tea though, it was too sweet. But we regularly order at Moonleaf and it is super yummy but this time it was too sweet. Anyway, I love this little cafe (which can only accommodate like 2 small groups of people). Super nice service and really beautiful decor. The price isn't that bad also.

So for my rating I'll give this a 8 over 10. :)

This is their page so you could see their address and visit them too.
